Circumpolar Star Stars that appear to make circles around Polaris
Diurnal stars Stars that appear to rise and set
Luminosity Measurement of how bright a star is compared to the Sun
Black Dwarf Dead star
What determines the path a star will take during its existence? The original mass and size
Solar System The Sun and all the objects that orbit the Sun
Satellite Any object that revolves around another object
Asteroid Rocky/Metallic object that orbits the Sun
Comet Low Density objects composed mostly of ices
Meteoroids Solid particles smaller than comets and asteroids that orbit the Sun
Meteor Path of light from a meteoroid that entered into Earth's atmosphere
Meteroite A meteoroid that landed on Earth's surface
Impact crater A depression left on Earth's surface from a collision
Impact Event The colliding of comets, asteroids and meteorites
Terrestrial Planets Planets that have a rocky surface
Jovian Planets Planets made mostly of gas
Rotation Spin on an imaginary axis
Revolution The movement around the Sun
Eccentricity Describes the shape of an orbit
Inertia An object at rest will stay at rest, an object in motion will stay in motion unless an opposing force affects it
What happens when two Celestial object get closer together? Gravitation Attraction increases
What happens to the speed of an object in orbit as it get closer to the object it is orbiting around? Velocity increases
