take your breath away astonish or inspire someone with awed respect or delight.
take something for granted fail to properly appreciate (someone or something), especially as a result of overfamiliarity. assume that something is true without questioning it.
take it as given to regard or accept (something) as true or real
take a hammering/beating To be thoroughly beaten or thrashed.
take it on the chin accept misfortune courageously or stoically.
take your mind off something to stop you thinking about something unpleasant
take it out on someone you behave in an unpleasant way towards them because you feel angry or upset, even though this is not their fault.
take credit for something to allow people to believe that one did something that deserves praise or special attention
take someone to the cleaners take all someone's money or possessions in a dishonest or unfair way.
take it or leave it said to express that the offer one has made is not negotiable and that one is indifferent to another's reaction to it.
