| AAP | Aft attendant panel. Located close to the AFT left hand passenger door and provides additional controls for cabin systems. |
| ABA | Able bodied passenger. A guest of sound mental and physical capacity able to assist Crew Members during and emergency. |
| A/C or AC | Aircraft |
| A/C L (R) | Aircraft left or Aircraft right |
| ACARS | Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System is a digital datalink system for transmission of small messages between aircraft and ground stations via radio and satellite. |
| ACM | Additional Crew Member |
| ACP | Area Call Panel. Installed in the cabin ceiling to provide visual indications for crew calls, lavatory calls, Guest calls, or smoke detection. |
| AED | Automated External Defibrillator |
| AFT | Rear of the aircraft |
| AGL | Above Ground Level |
| AIP | Attendant Indication Panel. Installed within the vicinity of all Cabin Crew stations and provides visual feedback of interphone communication, Guest call and cabin emergency system |
| Aircraft Number | An identification number painted on the outside of the aircraft. Also referred to as the ship or tail number. |
| Aircraft Potable Water System | The aircraft water and wast system supplies potable water to the lavatories and galleys of an airplane and removes the sink and toilet waste. It is also needed for hot tea and coffee made in the galleys, while regular water is served from bottles. |

| AOSSP | Air Operator Standard Security Program |
| AUX | Auxiliary Power Unit. A small engine installed in the tail of the aircraft used to provide electrical power and air conditioning while the aircraft is on the ground. |
| AQE (Air Quality Event) | An AQE is the presence of fumes (unpleasant odor) the either are or may be sourced to the AIR SUPPLY VENTS. |

| Base (Domicile) | The city where the flight attendant is based. A flight attendant originates and terminates flights from that city. |

| Block Time | The aircraft parts at the termination of a flight. Chocks are placed on each side of the wheels to keep it from rolling. They are removed when the aircraft departs on another flight. Block time is the period in between |

| Bulkhead | A term used to define any dividing wall or partition in the cabin |
| C | Denotes galley configuration “classic” on OCC 5 character identifying code to differentiate between aircraft variants. |
| CA or CAPT or Captain | The pilot-in-command (PIC) of an aircraft who is directly responsible for and is the final authority of the operation of the aircraft |
| Cabin | The interior of the aircraft where Guests sit |

| Chaser Pairing | Built to accommodate flight attendant position D on the A320 and the flight attendant position D and E on the A321. These positions are not part of the core crew and will remain in the chaser position for the duration of the trip. |
| Check-in-time | Time the flight attendant is required to report for flight duty |
| CIDS | Cabin Intercommunication Data System. A series of interlinked computers, responsible for controlling cabin systems such as: interphone, lighting, smoke detection, evacuation alert, and FAP indications. |
| CLV | Crew Life Vest. Installed at all Cabin and Flight Crew stations and colored orange for Guest identification |

| Core Crew | The core crew is composed of Flight Attendant A,B, and C on all aircrafts |

| Crew Member | A person assigned to perform duty on and aircraft during flight time |
| Crew O2 Mask | Full Face Flight Crew Oxygen Mask located in the flight deck |
| Critical phase of flight | All ground operations involving surface movement (taxi), takeoff, and landing, and all other flight operations conducted below 10,000 feet, except cruise flight. |
| CRM | Crew Resource Management-the effective use of all resources; humanware, hardware, and software, to achieve safe, efficient flight operations |

| CRS | Child Restraint System |
| Customer | A customer is a person that buys goods and/or services from Spirit Airlines. We routinely use Guest instead of customer or passenger (PAX). |
| Deicing | Procedure to removes frost, ice, slush or snow from aircraft surfaces. These procedures may utilize fluids, mechanical means, or surface heating to remove icing containments |
| DEMO | Safety demonstration |
| DH | Deadhead. The transportation of a Crew Member to another location to operate a flight, or the return of a crew member to their crew base. This is considered time on duty |

| Direct Flight | A flight that has one flight number, but with one more stops |
| DOD | Department of Defense |
| Domicile (base) | The city where a flight attendant is based. A flight attendant will originate and terminate flights from that city. |

| ECAM | Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitoring. A system that monitors the state of critical aircraft systems and provides indications and warnings to the Pilots |

| ELT | Emergency Locator Transmitter. Installed at the aft (rear) passenger door, radio signaling device used to rescue personnel to locate and accident or ditching scene. |
