Moral sense seeks instruction for living and behaving, what is good to do

Chronicles are accounts of events in the order of time (Ruth: 1-12)
Allegorical sense Recognizes the significance of Christ in spiritual events
Spiritual Sense (mystical sense) the words and what is signified by them
Literal Sense understanding scripture at the time it was written (How things actually happened)
Form Criticism helps provide content and background. Look at the history of biblical work from oral tradition to being written down. Additionally it identifies literary genres
Redaction Criticism suggest that the people who edited Genesis thought it was important to keep both accounts
Source Criticism proposes the idea that the two creation accounts in Genesis may have had different origins
Contracts are legal agreements between two parties (Ruth:1-12)
Hyberboles are deliberate exaggerations as a figure of speech to make a point (Pslam 119:136)
Anthropomorphism attribute human characteristics or experiences to God (Chronicles 16:9)
Anagogical Sense derives heavenly matters, the eternal life we are awaiting. This is derived from earthly matters described in the narrative
