| Ascetic | Define- A practice or person that is strictly self-discipline, for mainly religious reasons. Sentence- In church we pray ascetically. |
| Beleaguered | Define- To be in a difficult situation; to be surrounded. Sentence- Since I forgot to do my homework, I was beleaguered. |
| Enveloped | Define- To be engaged in. Sentence- I was enveloped in the tv show. |
| Fanatic | Define- A person that is obsessed or highly interested in one or more topics (Ex. Fitness fanatic). Sentence- My younger sister had turned into a TV fanatic, after my mom let her watch one episode. |
| Identity | Define- Characteristics or ancestry/culture that defines a person. Sentence- Her identity changed from person to person, as she mirrored them. |
| Lodge- Verb | Define- Something gets stuck in a particular place. Sentence- During surgery, they had to remove the bullet lodged in his arm. |
| Reel- Verb | Define- To pull/turn something in. Sentence- The book I was reading reeled me in with the plot. |
| Remorse | Define- To feel guilty or shameful. Sentence- The bully felt remorseful to her victims, after she got in trouble. |
| Ruse | Define- A purposely misleading action; something like a trick. Sentence- My sister thought hard about what ruse to use on me for April Fools’ Day. |
| Spasmodically | Define- Something occurs sudden or unexpected. Sentence- The storm spasmodically started, catching everyone off guard. |
