| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| bar graph | a graph showing data in a series of bars |
| biased | a question that leads to a specific response or excludes a certain group |
| circle graph | a graph in the shape of a circle that shows data in slices of the circle |
| prioritize | to put events in order of importance |
| quotient | the number, not including the remainder, that results from dividing 35/7 = 5 |
| random sample | a sample in which each individual or object in the population has an equal chance of being selected |
| range | the difference between the greatest and the least number in a set of data |
| relation | a set of ordered pairs(5,1) (10,2) (3,4) |
| scale | the numbers placed at fixed distances on a graph to help label the graph |
| probability | the chance that an event will occur expressed as the ratio of the number of favorable outcomes to the number of possible outcomes |
| simulation | a model of an experiment that would be too difficult or too time-consuming to actually perform |
| tally table | a graph (table) that records data as tally marks |
| tree diagram | a diagram that branches out from the least specific to more specific |
| unbiased sample | every individual in the population has an equal chance of being selected |
| Venn diagram | two or more circles overlapping, used to diagram similarites and differences between things |
| x-coordinate | the first number in an ordered pair that tells the distance to move horizontally |
| y-axis | the vertical line on a coordinate grid |
| y-coordinate | the second number in an ordered pair that tells the distance to move vertically |
| histogram | a bar graph that shows the number of times data occur within certain ranges or intervals |
| line graph | a graph that connects a series of plotted dots in one line |
| line plot | a graph that plots markers along a line |
| mean | the number found by dividing the sum of a set of numbers by the number of addends |
| median | the middle number in an ordered set of data |
| mode | the number or item that appears most often in a set of data |
| ordered pair | a pair of numbers used to locate a point on a coordinate grid |
| outcome | a possible result of an experiment |
| outlier | a value separated from the rest of the data |
