FPS system Measurement system used by the US
Metric system Measurement system used by scientists and most of the world
CGS system Lesser used measurement system used mostly by scientists
Working with significant figures Answer must be rounded to the smallest number of sig figs
Dimensional analysis conversion technique that uses conversion factors that are equal to or approximately equal to 1 as a series of multiplied fractions to cancel out unwanted units and leave the desired units
A zero is significant when it is in between two non-zero numbers or after a non-zero number when a decimal is present
Accuracy How close something is to the actual value
Precision How close certain values are to each other
Systematic error due to some cause that affects every measurement in the same way
Random error when something goes wrong due to uncontrollable factors
