simplified fraction (reduced) a fraction whose numerator and denominator do not have a common factor
multiplicative inverse (reciprocal) a number made by switching the original numerator and denominator
complex fraction a fraction whose numerator and/or denominator are fractions
ratio a comparison of 2 values using division
rate a ratio that has 2 different units
unit rate a rate with the value of 1 in the denominator
original price the starting price before a markup or markdown
sales price the price the customer pays after a discount
discount a lowering of the original price
proportional a relationship that keeps the same rate
constant of proportionality the constant unit rate in a proportional relationship
