Numerical Represenations

TermDefinition
absolute Value the distance a number is away from zero
integer a set of whole numbers and their opposites
opposite two integers that are equal distance form zero but on opposite sides of zero
rational number can be written as a fractions, as a terminating decimal or as a repeating decimal
subset a set of which all the elements are also contained in another larger set
whole number a positive counting number starting from zero
positive number a number greater than zero
negative number a number less than zero
zero pair a positive and negative that have a sum of zero, so they are eliminated
elevation a distance above or below a point of reference
