TermDefinition
Force A push or pull. that can cause objects to move: slow, stop, or change the direction of an object's motion.
Balanced Force are opposite in direction and equal in size. When forces are balanced there is no change in direction or motion.
Unbalanced Force force applied in one direction is greater than the force applied in the opposite direction which causes a change motion ( in speed and/or direction.)
Net Force sum of all the forces acting on an object
Newton Unit of measurement for force
Spring Scale The tool used to measure force
Newton's First Law Objects in motion stay in motion, objects at rest stay at rest ; in the same speed and same direction unless acted on by an unbalanced force
Newton's Second Law Force=mass times acceleration
Newton's 3rd Law For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
