| gripping | so interesting or exciting that it holds your attention totally |
| enigmatic | mysterious and impossible to understand completely |

| wry | showing that you find a bad or difficult situation slightly funny |
| evocative | which arouse memories or images |
| eponymous | who has the same name as the title of the book |
