direct current electrons move in one direction through a metal
malleable a property of metals whereby they can be pounded out into flat sheets
oxidation (oxidize) the removal of electrons from atoms
cations a positively charged ion such as Na+
reducer something that gives electrons to other atoms
reduction (reduced) giving electrons to atoms
ductile a property of metals whereby they can be pulled out into thin wires
alternating current electrons move back and forth through a metal
anions a negatively charged ion such as Cl-
oxidizer something that removes electrons from other atoms
voltage The force exerted when metal atoms force electrons onto other atoms. This is also called the electromotive force (EMF)
