kilo- a 1.000 of something in the metric system (a kilogram is 1.000 grams)
meter the unit of length in the metric system
metric system a system of measurements based upon unit of 10
milli- the prefix in the metric system indicating 1/1000 of a unit (a milligram is 1/1000 of a gram)
micro- the prefix in the metric system indicating 1/1,000,000 of a unit (a microgram is 1/1,000,000 of a gram)
