| A trial is the act of doing an experiment in probability | |
| An outcome is one of the possible results of a trial | |
| An event is the occurrence of one or more specific outcomes | |
| The set or list of all possible outcomes in a trial is called the sample space | |
| A probability of 0% or 0 means that the event will never happen - impossible | |
| 1 or 100% means that the event will happen - certain | |
| 1/2, 0.5 or 50% means that there is an even chance of it happening | |
| Relative frequency | Is an estimate of the actual probability of an event occurring |
| Fundamental Principal of Counting | If one trial has m possible outcomes and a second trial has n possible outcomes, then the total number of possible outcomes is mxn |
| Successive events | Are two or more events occurring in succession or sequence |
