Intro Skills for Wrestling

SkillDescription
Neutral On your feet in a hunched low profile staggered stance.
Top Position Knee by opponent's knee, foot by their foot, far arm wrapped around the waist, near arm on the elbow.
Bottom Position (4 point) Hands in front and knees behind the center mat lines, face the referee.
Hand-fighting This typically involves hands but is a fight for a position of advantage. Can happen in any position.
Shot Leg attack that involves setting up, level changing, and an explosive attack through your opponent's legs.
Set-ups Using a combination of hand fighting and pressure to get your opponent off-balance and vulnerable.
Level Changing Changing the height of your hips , especially getting your hips low enough to attack underneath an opponent.
Explosive Attack An attack that knocks your opponent off balance.
Escape Completely getting out of your opponent's control. Scored only from the bottom position.
Reversal Changing from your opponent having control to you having control. Changing from bottom to top position.
Takedown Taking an opponent down from neutral by having control of their hips in the top position.
