Pretérito Indefinido (past simple)

TermDefinition
When to use Pretérito Indefinidio? Used for past actions that are seen as completed at a definite time in the past. e.g. 'my sister found some keys by the river' would required this form of past tense.
When to use Pretérito Imperfecto? Used for actions in the past that are not seen as completed. It’s use implies that the past action did not have a definite beginning or a definite end.
ayer yesterday (would typically need past simple)
anoche last night (would typically need past simple)
el otro día. the other day (would typically need past simple)
de repente suddenly (would typically need past simple)
el año pasado last year (would typically need past simple)
el verano pasado last summer (would typically need past simple)
la semana pasada. last week (would typically need past simple)
cantar to sing (regular -ar verb)

él/ella cantó he/she sang
