| What is a simple sentence? | A simple sentence only has one clause. |
| What is an independent clause? | An independent clause can stand alone as it makes complete sense by itself. It contains a subject, verb and an object |
| What is a dependent clause? | A dependent clause needs to be attached to something else, as it does not make sense by itself |
| What is this an example of? I went shopping but lost my wallet | Complex, Independent, conjunction, dependent |
| What is a complex sentence? | A complex sentence has one independent clause, a conjunction, and one or more dependent clauses. The independent clause must contain a verb, but the dependent clause does not always have one |
