Are abrasive nail files and buffers multi use? NO
Medium grit abrasive (150-180) used to smooth and refine surfaces and shape/shorten natural nails.
Fine grit abrasive 240 or higher. Buffing, polishing, and removing very fine scratches.
Coarse grit abrasive 100 or less. Quickly reduce surface and creates bigger scratches. Not to be used in natural nails.
What are the two types of polish remover? Acetone and non acetone
Protein hardener Mix of clear polish and a protein such as collagen
Do nail gardeners contain formaldehyde? NO it contains methylene glycol
DMU Dimethyl urea hardness
Why are liquid soaps recommended over bar soaps Bacteria can grow in bars
How do you dispose of used acetone ? In a fire department approved metal container and dispose as hazardous waste
What is the main difference between gel polishes and hybrid gels? Hybrid gels can be removed with polish remover
Why is sunscreen important in manicuring services? Sun (UVA/UVB) causes hyperpigmentation and skin cancer

Tapotement Rapid tapping or striking motion of the hands against the skin
Vibration Continuous trembling or shaking movements applied by the hound without leaving contact with the skin
Friction Gently twisting arm in opposite directions (like ringing a towel )

What are four additional techniques that can be added to a spa manicure? Aromatic paraffin treatments, hand masks, a warm stone massage, and warm, moist towel applications.
What manicures can be performed using dry manicure techniques? All! Basic,spa,scrub,etc.
What are some alternatives to dipping paraffin wax? Spray, cheesecloth, paper towels, plastic bag, painting
Name groups that are not good candidates for paraffin wax Senior citizens, chronically ill, impaired circulation, open wounds, irritated skin
