atomic number the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom
group A vertical column on the periodic table
period A horizontal row of elements in the periodic table
Periodic Law when the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number, there is a periodic repetition of their physical and chemical properties
main group elements Those elements occupying the s and p blocks of the periodic table. Groups 1,2 and 13
transition metals elements that form a bridge between elements on the left and right sides of the periodic table
inner transition metals elements that appear below the main body of the periodic table
