TermDefinition
Compatible Numbers numbers that are easy to compute with mentally
Estimate to find an answer that is close to the exact amount
Inverse Operations opposite operations, or operations that undo each other, such as multiplication and division
Remainder the amount left over when a number cannot be divided equally
Dividend the number that is to be divided in a division problem
Divisor the number that you are dividing by in a division problem
Factor the number being multiplied in a multiplication problem
Partial Quotients a method of dividing in which multiplies of the divisor are subtracted from the dividend and then the quotients are added together
Product the answer to a multiplication problem
Quotient the number, not including the remainder, that results by dividing
