# Tools of Geometry

### Basic Geometry

TermDefinition
Angle Two rays that share the same starting point.
Line A set of connected points that extends forever in two directions.
Ray A portion of a line that as one starting point and extends forever in one direction.
Line Segment A portion of a line that has one starting point and one ending point.
Acute Angle An angle that measures more than 0 degrees but less than 90 degrees.
Obtuse Angle An angle that measures more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees.
Right Angle An angle that measures exactly 90 degrees.
Straight Angle An angle that measure exactly 180 degrees.
Adjacent Angles Angles that are next to each other and share a common side and a common vertex.
Complementary Angles Two angles that add to 90 degrees.
Supplementary Angles Two angles that add to 180 degrees.
Vertical Angles Formed by pairs of intersecting lines and are across from each other. They are congruent (equal).
