| domain | the possible values for x; the independent variable of a function |
| range | the possible values for y; the dependent variable of a function |
| vertex | the point at the intersection of the parabola and its line of symmetry; (h,k) |
| axis of symmetry | a line that divides an object into two equal halves; x = # |
| minimum value | the minimum (lowest point) of the graph |
| maximum value | the maximum (highest point) of the graph |
| horizontal stretch/shrink | horizontal stretching/shrinking changes the x-values of points |
| vertical stretch/shrink | vertical stretching/shrinking changes the y-values of points |
| zero(s), solution(s), or roots | the values of the unknown variable x, which satisfy the equation |
| quadratic equation | y = ax^2 + bx + c |
| standard form of a quadratic | Ax^2 + Bx + C = 0, where 'A' is the leading coefficient and it is a non-zero real number |
| vertex form of a quadratic | f(x) = a (x − h)^2 + k, where the vertex is (h,k) |
| intercept form of a quadratic | f(x) = a (x - p)(x - q) = 0, where the x-intercepts are the points (p,0) and (q,0) |
