| equivalent Ratios | ratios that have the same value can be found by scaling up, scaling down, drawing a table, tape diagram, or double number line |
| ratio | a comparison of two quantities using division can be written 3 ways 3:2, 3 to 2 or 3/2 ORDER is important! |
| scaling up | creating an equivalent ratio by multiplying the top and bottom of a fraction by the same number |
| scaling down | creating an equivalent ratio by dividing the top and bottom of a fraction by the same number |
| finding equivalent fractions using a tape diagram | Draw one box for each part of the ratio. Use the information given to determine how may go in each box. |
