Data and Statistics

TermDefinition
categorical data these answers are not measurements or quantities (usually noun or verb answers to a question)
numerical data these answers are measurements or quantities (answers are numbers)
dot plot a number line that shows numerical data
variability having more than 1 value
statistical question a question that can be answered by collecting data with variability
frequency the number of times that something happens
distribution shows how many times each value (answer) is given
center the value in the middle of the distribution
spread tells how far apart the values are in a data set
