CHEMISTRY The study of structure and behavior of matter.
MATTER Is anything that occupies space.
PARTICULATE THEORY OF MATTER All matter is made up of particles
PARTICULATE THEORY OF MATTER 4 MAIN IDEAS All matter is made of particles. The particles are in constant motion. There are space between them. Forces of attraction between the particles.
THREE STATES OF MATTER Solid, Liquid and Gas.
KINETIC ENERGY A form of energy that an object or a particle has by reason of its motion.
PHYSICAL CHANGE The form of a substance changed by temperature without changing its chemical composition.
DIFFUSION Movement of particles from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration until they are evenly distributed.
OSMOSIS Movement of water molecules from a region with a alot of molecule to an a region of few water molecules
DIFFERENTIALLY PREMEABLE MEMBRANE Allows some of the substances to pass through but not others. Contains minute pores.
