| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| light | is electromagnetic radiation within the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that is perceived by the human eye. |
| Wave | Particle Duality |
| electromagnetic radiation | The energy transferred through space by electromagnetic waves. |
| oscillation | movement back and forth at a regular speed |
| wave | A disturbance that transfers energy from place to place |
| speed of light | 3.00 x 10^8 m/s |
| wavelength | Horizontal distance between the crests or between the troughs of two adjacent waves |
| frequency | The number of complete waves that pass a given point in a certain amount of time |
| displacement | change in position relative to the starting position |
| amplitude | For a wave or vibration, the maximum displacement on either side of the equilibrium (midpoint) position. |
| inverse relationship | a relationship in which one variable decreases when another variable increases |
| electromagnetic spectrum | the range of wavelengths or frequencies over which electromagnetic radiation extends. |
