y=mx + b Equation for a line in slope intercept form
m slope, rise/run, change in y/change in x
slope describes steepness and direction of the line
positive slope up (and right)
negative slope down (and right)
0 slope horizontal line
undefined slope vertical line
b y-intercept or where the line crosses the y-axis
positive y-intercept above the origin y = -2x + 3
negative y-intercept below the origin y = 1/2x - 3
no y-intercept at the origin y=-1/2x
slope = -2, y-intercept = 6 equation: y = -2x + 6
