Slope and Y-Int.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| y=mx + b | Equation for a line in slope intercept form |
| m | slope, rise/run, change in y/change in x |
| slope | describes steepness and direction of the line |
| positive slope | up (and right) |
| negative slope | down (and right) |
| 0 slope | horizontal line |
| undefined slope | vertical line |
| b | y-intercept or where the line crosses the y-axis |
| positive y-intercept | above the origin y = -2x + 3 |
| negative y-intercept | below the origin y = 1/2x - 3 |
| no y-intercept | at the origin y=-1/2x |
| slope = -2, y-intercept = 6 | equation: y = -2x + 6 |
