Why did Calpurnia start calling Jem "Mister Jem"? Because she realizes he is starting to grow up
Why did Atticus recant (take back) his speech to Scout about acting more ladylike? When he saw Scout's reaction, he realized he was wrong.
What did Lula from Calpurnia's church make the children realize? They need to have more compassion for Tom Robinson's future treatment from the white jury.
Why did the church take a collection for Helen? Because she is Tom's wife and is having trouble getting work because of the trial.
How did Scout find out about Tom Robinson's criminal charges? She asked Calpurnia about Tom Robinson after church
How does Calpurnia respond when Jem asks her why she speaks differently to them than she does to the people at her church? She said she speaks that way at church because she doesn't want to seem like she is " putting on airs".
Why did Aunt Alexandra come to stay with the family? She thinks they need a " feminine " influence.
How does the members of Maycomb treat Aunt Alexandra? They welcome her with "open arms".
What does Aunt Alexandra think the children should be proud of? Their Finch ancestry
Why do Jem and Scout feel uncomfortable when they go to town? People are gossiping about them because of the trail.
What does the " snake" turn out to be in Scout's room? Dill
Why did Atticus say, " I don't think the children have suffered one bit from her having brought them up. If anything, she's been harder on them in some ways than a mother would've been." Because Aunt Alexandra wanted Atticus to fire Calpurnia
Why did Dill run away from home? His mother and new father do not pay enough attention to him.
How did Atticus respond when he say Dill? He told Scout to get him some food and went over to tell Dill's aunt, Rachel.
"She was never bored, and given the slightest chance she would exercise her royal prerogative: she would arrange, advise, caution , and warn." What does " prerogative" mean? Privilege
