association a connection between two sets of data
bivariate data data that has two variables
clustering data points that have similar numerical values
linear able to represent a straight line on a graph
linear association an association that can be represented with a straight line
mean absolute deviation the average distance each data point is from the mean of a set of data
non-linear association relationship between two variables that don't look like a line
outlier outsider value; bigger or smaller than the rest of the numbers
population total collection of people, items, or objects to gather data from
sample chosen group for the purpose of collecting data
scatter plots graph with plotted points to show a possible relationship
trend line shows the general direction of data points on a graph; line of best fit
variability a set of data with differing values
