Dilation enlarges or reduces a figure proportionally with respect to a center point and a scale factor.
similar Figures that have the same shape but not the same size- made by a dilation
How to find a primed point based on scale factor Multiply scaled factor by original point Ex: (8,9) with a scale factor of 1/2 8x0.5 and 9x0.5 -> (4,4.5)
Enlargement vs. Reduction Enlargement has a scale factor greater than 1, reduction is less than one.
Similar Triangles triangles that have the same shape but not necessarily the same size
Find the missing side of proportional triangle write and solve a proportion using the sides given
proportion An equation stating that two ratios are equal
solve a proportion by using cross products and dividing by the coefficient.
