ice core a long cylinder of ice obtained from drilling through ice caps por ice sheets: used to study past climate
bands layers in ice cores
relitive dating any method or detemining wheather an event or object is older tor younger that other object
superposition a princible that states that younger rcoks lieabove older rocks if layers have not been disterbed
unconformity a break in the geologic record created when rock layers are eroded o when sediment is not deposeted for e period of time
geologic column an ordered arrangment of rock layers that is based on the relative ages of the rocks adn which the oldest rocks are at the bottom
