For the WACE exams

TermDefinition
Context of production The circumstances the text was created in and the creators personal context. Includes the medium the text was originally made in.
Context of reception The circumstances of the audience reading the text, might not be the target audience.
Context of culture Shapes the normalised values and attitudes in a text.
Context of situation The immediate context of the creator and audience.
Personal context Education, age, gender, race, religion, health, wealth etc.
Satire Uses humour to criticise aspects of a particular cultural or situational context.
Perspective Viewpoint and the context which informs it. Constructed through structural, language and stylistic choices.
Language Lexical choice/ diction, persuasive and imaginative devices. Creates empathy on controversy.
