Angle Relationships and Pythagorean Theorem

| converse | a statement that switches the order of the "if" and the "then" |
| hypotenuse | the side of a right triangle that is opposite from the right angle; the longest side of a right triangle |
| legs | the sides of a right triangle that are adjacent to the right angle |
| alternate exterior angles | angles outside a set of parallel lines and an opposite sides of the transversal |
| alternate interior angles | angles inside a set of parallel lines and on opposite sides of the transversal |
| corresponding angles | angles in the same relative position |
| exterior angle | in a triangle, the angle between one side of the triangle and the extension of an adjacent side |
| remote interior angles | the two interior angles of a triangle that are not adjacent to the exterior angles of the triangle |
| transversal | a line that cuts across two or more lines |
| vertical angles | pairs of opposite angles formed by intersecting lines |
| straight angle | an angle that equal 180 degrees |
| supplementary angles | two angles whose sum is 180 degrees |
| adjacent angles | an angle immediately next to another angle |
| similar figures | having the same shape but not necessarily the same size |
