| What is a comma splice? | When two independent clauses are connected together with a comma. | I was boarding my flight, there was a man sleeping in my seat. | I was boarding my flight, but unfortunately there was a man sleeping in my seat. |
| What is a subordinating conjunction? | A word or group of words that joins an independent clause to a dependent clause (e.g., after, since, while, because, before, although, etc.) | I was afraid, I peed my pants. | Since I was so afraid, I peed my pants. |
