Base the whole number
Exponent the small number above the whole number
Power a whole number with an exponent
Numerical Expression contains numbers and no equal signs or inequality signs
Order of Operations the rules we use to avoid mathematical confusion (GEMDAS)
Variable a symbol, usually a letter, used to represent an unknown number
Algebraic has to contain a variable
Expression does not have an equal sign or an inequality symbol
Term when a plus or minus sign separates an algebraic expression into parts each part is called this
Coefficient the number in front of the variable
Variable Term a term with a variable
Constant a term without a variable
Distributive Property 5(3 + 4) = 5(3) + 5(4)
Communative Property of Addition 5 + 3 = 3 + 5
Communative Property of Multiplication 5 x 2 = 2 x 5
Associative Property of Addition (2 + 3) + 4 = 2 + (3 + 4)
Associative Property of Multiplication (4 x 5) x 6 = 4 x (5 x 6)
Identity Property of Addition 5 + 0 = 5
Identity Property of Multiplcation 6 x 1 = 6
