What is an ATOM? The smallest part of matter that can table part in a chemical reaction
How does an atom relate to elements? Elements are made up atoms of only one type.
What are sub-atomic particles These are tiny particles that make up an atom: protons, neutrons and electrons
Differentiate among these particles Protons: positively charged, found in nucleus, mass of 1 amu Neutrons: neutral, found in the nucleus, mass of 1 amu Electrons: negatively charged, found on electron shell/ energy level, mass 1/1840 or 1/1836 amu
