Vocabulary for Hero's Journey/Monomyth

| hero (plural - heroes) | a person who is admired for their courage, great achievements, or noble qualities |
| protagonist | the main character |
| archetype | a character type, symbol or storyline that appears again and again in stories around the world. E.g. hero, Hero's Journey structure |
| formula | a specific pattern, order of events or set of rules that doesn't change |
| mission | a task or tasks to be completed because it is your duty, your purpose |
| quest | a search to find or do something important |
| mentor | someone who teaches or gives help and advice to a less experienced person |
| nemesis | someone or something that a person struggles to defeat or overcome. E.g an enemy |
| ally (plural - allies) | someone who is on your side and supports you |
| status quo | the current situation (the way things are now) |
| resurrection | when someone or something comes back to life |
| ordeal | a very unpleasant and difficult experience |
| threshold | the entrance or starting point of something; the line at the bottom of a doorway or gate |
| crisis | a time of great difficulty or danger |
| temptation | a strong urge or desire to have or do something; or something that causes that desire |
