QuestionAnswer
abundant number A number with proper factors that add to more than the number.
common factor A factor that two or more numbers share.
common multiple A multiple that two or more numbers share.
composite number A whole number with factors other than itself and 1. (i.e., a whole number that is not prime).
deficient number A number with proper factors that add to less than the number.
dimensions The dimensions of a rectangle are its length and its width.
divisor A factor.
even number A multiple of 2.
factor One of two or more numbers that are multiplied to get a product.
Fundamental Theorem of Arith The theory stating that, except for the order of the factors, a whole number can be factored into prime factors in only one way.
multiple The product of a given whole number and another whole number.
near perfect number A number with proper factors that add to 1 less than the number.
odd number A whole number that is not a multiple of 2.
perfect number A number with proper factors that add to exactly the number.
prime factorization The longest factor string for a number.
prime number A number with only two factors.
proper factors All the factors of a number, except the number itself.
relatively prime numbers Numbers with no common factors except for 1.
square number The product of a number with itself.
venn diagram A diagram in which overlapping circles are used to show relationships among sets of objects that have certain attributes.
