| Term | Definition |

| Billion | A thousand Millions: 1,000,000,000 |
| Place Value | The value of each digit in a number. |
| Hundreds | The place three to the left of the decimal point: 100 |
| Millions | A thousand thousands: 1,000,000 |
| Thousands | Ten times one hundred 1,000 |
| Tens | The place two to the left of the decimal point: 10 |
| Tenths | The first digit to the right of the decimal point: 0.1 |
| Hundredths | The second digit to the right of the decimal point: 0.01 |
| Thousandths | The third digit to the right of the decimal point: 0.001 |
| Expanded Notation | It is shown as a sum of each digit multiplied by its matching place value. Ex: (5x100) + (2x10)+(3x1)=523 |
| Expanded Form | To break up a number according to their place value and expand it to show the value of each digit. Ex: 523= 500+20+3 |
| Decimal | It is a point or dot used to separate the whole number part from the fractional part of a decimal number. |
