| Term | Definition |

| typical | having the usual qualities or features of a particular type of person, thing or group |
| Legal | allowed or required by law |
| Butler | a man who opens the door, serves dinner, etc in a large house as a job |
| Housekeeper | someone who is paid to clean and cook in someone else's house |
| Dustpan | a flat container with a handle, used with a brush for removing dirt from a floor |
| Assign | to give someone a particular job or responsibility |
| Dismiss | to send somebody away or allow them to leave |
| Cauldron | a large deep pot for boiling liquids or cooking food over a fire |
| Gristly | full of gristle (= a solid white substance in meat that is difficult to eat) |
| Scone | a small round cake, sometimes with dried fruit in it and often eaten with butter, jam and cream spread on it |
| Approve | to say that something is good enough to be used or is correct |
| Blame | to think or say that somebody/something is responsible for something bad |
| Frantic | done quickly and with a lot of activity, but in a way that is not very well organized |
