What is a vector? (2) Something that has a magnitude and a direction.
What is a resultant force? (1) A force that represents that represents to combined effect of all forces acting on the object.
What is the resultant force when a force of 4N pushes to the left, and a second force of 5N pushes to the right? (2) "1N to the right. 1 mark for answer 1 mark for direction stated.
" What two things occur when the resultant force acting on an object is zero? (2) "Stays stationary. Continues to move at the same velocity (same speed and direction).
" Draw a force diagram to show a person sinking into quicksand. You should include two forces. (2)
Complete the diagram to show the magnitude and direction of the resultant force on the object (2).
What is the equation linking kinetic energy, mass and velocity? Ek= 0.5mv2
What are the units of energy? joules
What are the units of mass? kilograms
What are the units of velocity? metres per second
What is the equation linking gravitationa field strength, gravitational potential energy and height? Ep=mgh
What are the units of gravitational field strength? newtons per kilogram
What is the equation linking energy transferred, power and time? P=E/t
What are the units of power? Watts
What is the definition of power? Power is the rate of transfer of energy or the rate of doing work
What is the equation linking power, time and work done? P=W/t
What is the unit of work done? Joules (J)
