Revision of speed, distance and acceleration

QuestionAnswer
The unit for acceleration is m/s2
The unit for velocity is m/s
What is velocity? The velocity of an object is its speed in a particular direction.
Speed = distance / time
Time = distance / speed
Distance = speed x time
thinking distance is the distance it takes for the driver to think about stopping.
Breaking distance is the distance it takes for the car to stop once the break has been applied.
Stopping distance this is the total distance it takes for the car to stop. It is the sum of the thinking and breaking distances.
Breaking distances is affected by The weather conditions (ice, rain, etc.) , the road conditions (pot holes, gravel, tarmac, concrete, etc.), and the quality of the breaks ad tyres.
Thinking distance is affected by tiredness, drugs, alcohol, distractions (talking, radio, mobile phone).
