| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Graph of a function f(x) | The collection of all points (x,y) such that the coordinates satisfy the relationship y=f(x). |
| Domain | The set of all possible inputs to a function. |
| Range | The set of all possible outputs to a function. |
| Limit as x approaches a | A tool used to describe the behaviour of a function near (but not necessarily equal to) the point x=a. |
| Equation | A statement that the values of two mathematical expressions are equal. |
| Variable | A quantity contained within a mathematical expression that is unknown and able to assume different numerical values. |
| A function f(x) from A to B | A rule that assigns to each element of A, x, exactly one element of B, f(x). |
| x-intercept | The point where a line crosses the x-axis. |
| y-intercept | The point where a line crosses the y-axis. |
| Point-Slope Form of a line | 𝑦−𝑦0=𝑚(𝑥−𝑥0) |
| Slope-Intercept Form of a line | 𝑦=𝑚𝑥+𝑏 y=mx+b |
