Steps to solving a quadratic rectangle word problem

QuestionAnswer
What is Step 1? Draw and label a rectangle using the information in the problem
What is Step 2? Multiply the length times the width and set it equal to the area
What is Step 3? Get the equation equal to 0 (use an inverse operation)
What is Step 4? Factor and solve the quadratic or graph it and look for the x-intercepts
What is Step 5? Pick a solution that makes sense. Remember lengths and widths CAN'T be negative!
What is the formula for the area of a rectangle? L x W = A
