Magnetism
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Magnetic Field (B) | Produced by the motion of an electric charge relative to some reference point and surrounds every magnet |
| Magnetic Domain | Clusters of aligned atoms |
| Induced Magnetism | Metals that can be turned into temporary magnets |
| Iron (Fe) | A metal that can be permanently magnetized by being placed in a strong magnetic field or being stroked with a magnet |
| Magnetic Force | Force = Magnetic field x Current x Length (F =BIL) |
| Tesla (T) | Unit of a Magnetic Field (B) |
| Solenoid | A straight wire that can be looped to strengthen the magnetic field |
| Right-hand Rule | Shows the direction of the force for a positive charge |
| Magnetic Force | Force = charge x velocity x magnetic field (F = qvB) |
| Magnetic Polarity | All magnetics have a North and South Pole |
