| metaphor | compares two unlike things without the use of specific connective words |
| mood | state of feeling |
| onomatopoeia | the use of words, which sound like what they mean |
| palindrome | a word or sentence when reversed is the same |
| poetry | writing that is in a certain form which makes someone have an emotional response through meaning, sound, and rhythm |
| quatrain | a stanza or poem of four lines |
| repetition | the use of words, sounds, or phrases again and again the use of words, sounds, or phrases again and again |
| rhyme | a word that corresponds with another in terminal (end) sound, as pane and cane |
| scheme | it is the pattern of rhymes in a poem |
| shape | an outline or contour |
| simile | creates a comparison by using a connective word, such as __like |
| stanza | is a part or section of a poem |
| syllable | a sound separated in a word |
| theme | a unifying idea that is a recurrent element in a literary or artistic work |
