Sampling Methods
Practicing sample method vocabulary
| Term | Definition |

| Population | All experimental units that you want to make a conclusion about. |
| Sample | Small group of the population that you use in your experiment/study/survey. |
| Simple Random Sample | Every experimental unit has the same chance of being picked |
| Stratified Random Sample | Dividing a population into smaller sub-groups based on shared attributes or characteristics. After this division, randomly select the sample from each sub-group. |
| Cluster Sample | Population is brown down into groups generally by location. All members of one (or more) groups are taken as the sample. |
| Convivence Sample | Selecting individuals that are the most convenient to reach out to or contact |
| Systematic Sample | The first experimental unit is selected at random and each additional experimental unit is selected at a predetermined or periodic interval. |
| Bias | Consistent, repeated measurements that are not close to the population parameter. Inaccuracy created in the data. |
| Experiment | A procedure where treatments are implemented to test a claim. |
| Sampling Frame | List of individuals from whom the sample is drawn. Not always the population of interest. |
| Statistic | Describes a sample of the population. Changes from sample to sample. |
| Parameter | Describes the population. Often unknown. Fixed value. |
