Angles
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Corresponding angle | That are in matching positions relative to the transverse and a parallel line there are four pairs of corresponding angles. |
| Co-interior angles | Lie 'inside' the parallel lines and on the same side of the transversal. They are supplementary if the lines are parallel. |
| Alternate angles | Lie 'inside' parallel lines and on opposite sides of the transversal. |
| Complementary angles | Two angles that add up to 90° |
| Supplementary angles | Two angles that add up to 180° |
| transversal | A line that crosses two or more lines. |
| Complement | The angle that needs to be added to given angle to give 90° E.g the complement of 60° is 30° |
| Supplementary | The angle that needs to be added to given angle to give 180° E.g the supplement of 120° is 60° |
| Adjacent | Have the same vertex and common arm. They like on opposite sides of the common arm. |
| Parallel lines | Straight lines in the same plane, do not meet |
| Angles at a point | The sun of all angles at a point is 360° |
| Angle sum | Angle of triangle is 180° Angle sum of a quadrilatral is 360° |
| Vertically opposite angles | These are equal angles, formed when two straight lines intersect |
