CO Major Arteries

Major Arteries and Veins

Common carotid arteries main arteries that supply oxygenated blood to head, face & neck. Located on both sides of neck, branch from aorta
Supraorbital artery supplies blood to the upper eyelid and forehead, branch of internal carotid artery
Infraorbital artery supplies blood to the muscles of the eye, branch of internal carotid artery
Facial artery (aka external maxillary artery) Supplies blood to lower region of face, mouth and nose; branch of external carotid
Submental artery supplies blood to chin & lower lip, branch of facial artery
Inferior Labial artery supplies blood to lower lip, branch of facial artery
Angular artery supplies blood to side of nose, branch of facial artery
Superior Labial artery supplies blood to upper lip, branch of facial artery
Superficial Temporal artery supplies blood to the muscles of the front, side, and top of the head; branch of external carotid
Frontal artery supplies blood to forehead and upper eyes, branch of Superficial temporal artery
Parietal artery supplies blood to side and crown of the head, branch of Superficial temporal artery
Transverse Facial artery supplies blood to skin & masseter muscle, branch of Superficial temporal artery
Middle Temporal artery supplies blood to the temples, branch of Superficial temporal artery
Anterior Auricular artery supplies blood to the front of the ear, branch of Superficial temporal artery
Posterior Auricular Artery supplies blood to back and top of ear, branch of external carotid
Occipital Artery supplies blood to scalp and back of head up to crown, branch of external carotid
Internal Jugular Vein located on side of neck, collects deoxygenated blood from brain, face & neck
External Jugular Vein located on side of neck, collects deoxygenated blood from head, face, and neck
Ulnar Artery supplies blood to the little finger side of the arm and palm
Radial Artery supplies blood to thumb side of the arm and back of the hand
Popliteal Artery located in back of knee, splits to form anterior tibial and posterior tibial arteries
Anterior Tibial Artery supplies blood to front of lower leg
Dorsalis Pedis Artery supplies blood to foot, branch of anterior tibial artery
Posterior Tibial Artery supplies blood to ankle and back of lower leg
