The Safe Food Handler

How handlers can contaminate food? When they have a foodborne illness, when they cough or sneeze, they come into contact with sick people.
What are some actions that can contaminate food? Scratching the scalp, cleaning or touching the nose, rubbing the ears, touching infected ears, or running the hands through the hair.
When should handlers wash their hands? After using the bathroom, before and after using meat, poultry or seafood, touching hair, face or body, sneezing, coughing or using a tissue, eating, drinking, smoking or chewing gum, and handling chemicals that would manipulate food safety.
How should food handlers have their hands? They must have them clean. for example: do not use nail polish, do not use false ones. They should keep them short and clean.
What to do if a food handler has a hand injury? must cover the wound to prevent pathogens from contaminating the food. The wound must be covered with an impermeable cover.
How does a food handler use gloves? They must be used when handling ready-to-eat food, they must never be used more than once, they must not be used when washing dishes, they must fit correctly.
When should a food handler change gloves? They should be replaced as soon as they get dirty or break, after an interruption, after handling meat, seafood or poultry, before starting a different task.
Food handlers should avoid contact with bare hands because? Because it is a risk for consumers to have severe illnesses, because some jurisdictions require it and because it is in the policies on the health of employees.
What is the clothing of a worker? They should wear a clean hat or other hair restraint, no jewelry in the prep area, and wear clean clothing every day.
Food handlers should not do? Eating, drinking, smoking, or chewing gum when they are preparing or serving food, when they are in prep areas or in areas to clean utensils and equipment.
What to do if a food handler is sick? You must ask him to leave work, exclude the handler from areas where food is used and allow him to return with a doctor's order.
